Introduction to Your 17 Step Success Marketing System

In 2009, America had a problem.

One year later, it’s 2010, we still have a problem.

We stopped believing in ourselves.

We forgot that we as a nation have struggled and suffered
much more in the past –
than we ever could today –
and we have overcome all our past problems.

There is an answer to our problems, we just don’t see it yet.

As Alex Goumakos put it in “The $3 Secret to Success”

“The one quality which turns the ordinary
into the extraordinary is ideas.

And here is the great news…

Whatever challenges you currently face…
money, marital, spiritual,
occupational, business, personal…
the solution — in the form of an idea — already exists.

You simply aren’t aware of it yet.

The question is not,

“Is there a way out of my predicament?”

but rather…

“When my solution comes,
will I be prepared to receive it?”

I believe — as do many others —
that all possible outcomes exist right now, simultaneously,
in the present moment.

That answer is to find a “Bus Ride Out of Hell,”
when no escape seems possible.

There is self-help, success and prosperity available to all.

This is a story of a journey –
a journey from the bottom of the basement
whatever basement you might be in now
to the top of the Grand Canyon –
to the achievement of the craziest goal you might have.

This is the story of helping you make that journey.

And marketing yourself plays a major role in this journey.

You might just “hate” marketing and its evil twin “sales”

Maybe somebody had done the marketing and sales for you –
and you just had to do the “real” work.

Here is my offer –

What if you could have “Instant Marketing” –
no need to put on a tie and a salesman’s face and attitude –
but you could sell yourself and your services
to the prospect, customers and clients who need those services?

This is what “The 17 Steps to Your Success” is all about.

Instant Marketing.

Quick, easy and painless.

Hopefully fun.

See, we sometimes lose awareness of how lucky we are –
we stop being grateful.

I had been looking for the secret to success for over 30 years.

I hope you will not have to search as long or as hard as I did.

I spent over 30 years marketing something in one way or another –
usually marketing something for somebody else,
for somebody else’s company –
every now and then marketing myself.

I read all of the books and listened to records, yes vinyl records,
then audiocassettes and then CDs, DVDs and MP3s –
wondering how to be a better marketer –
how to sell more –
how to earn more money -
and I saw the need for the skills I was trying to learn.

Guess what?

I needed to package these skills and present them to my customers –
you being one – and this is the real purpose behind the 17 steps.

By marketing myself – I show you how you can market yourself.

And have a purpose.

And make money.

And feel better.

We sometimes feel that life sucks, that the best times are long gone –
that our prosperity will never be the same again –
and this is what I am setting out to dispel.

The man who has arguably made more millionaires than anyone else in history – Napoleon Hill – has 17 Steps to Achievement.

I am including one in each chapter.

I have 17 chapters also.

I am writing to explain how I took these 17 steps and went from the bottom of the basement and how I traveled to the top of the Grand Canyon. Figuratively and literally.

I wrote this 17 Part Program, designed to help any Skilled Trades person achieve marketing success.

By following this training program that takes a Skilled Trades person through a series of 17 steps – you will be able to market yourself.

I have found that the people I help are extremely qualified and capable in their field – whether that field is Automotive Mechanics, Electrical Repair, Home Building or Home Remodeling.

What I provide is the Marketing.

Marketing is the one skill that these craftsmen lack.

So as I turn my life around – by leaving broke and heading towards rich –
there is a set of instructions that will help anyone interested and motivated.

There is a book called The Science of Getting Rich.

It was written one hundred years ago.

It claims to have the system for getting rich.

Dr. Robert Schuller, the TV Minister was asked

What is the key to your success?

and he answered :

“Anybody who succeeds is helping people.
The secret to success is
find a need and fill it;
find a hurt and heal it;
find a problem and solve it.”

Providing marketing to those who have a way to heal a hurt,
solve a problem – that is what I am best at doing and this is my heartfelt desire.

You might currently be broke.
I was there myself, not so long ago.

I had no one to blame but myself –
since I had not followed a course of action that lead me to prosperity,
to wealth and to my goals.

That is why I am writing this series of steps –
to help you find success at what you are good at -
to help you share your skills and abilities with others.

You see, in many parts of the world – times are tougher than here -
much tougher.

We Americans don’t see outside our own shores.

We see only ourselves.

In 2010, America had a problem -
the world was turned upside down
for workers of all ages
in almost every industry.

Millions with formerly “guaranteed” jobs -
now no longer have the security of a pay check -
and perhaps never again will.

At the beginning of January 2009,
134.3 million people were employed, 11.6 million unemployed.

At the start of May, only 132.4 million Americans were working,
14.5 million were now unemployed.

John Rich is a country music star and has written and sung a song called “They’re Shuttin’ Detroit Down.”

Here is a link to the music video of the song and the lyrics:

“They’re Shutting Detroit Down”

That’s sort of depressing, isn’t it?

Believe me, America has gone through much worse.

In the depths of The Great Depression, when almost 25% of Americans were unemployed, 75% still had a job.

And that was when a “Job was a Job.”

Today, we have more options and consequently more hope.

My goal for this program is to present a proven marketing plan,
for skilled workers who are currently unemployed or underemployed -
reveal how to offer your services to your target market -
using 17 time tested ideas that can be quickly learned
and successfully implemented at low cost.

The 17 steps presented here provide a road map to success,
enable you to use your existing skills -
and add two “secret” ingredients to do so.

These are Personal Marketing and Success Visualization.

I am always surprised when I mention the book “Think and Grow Rich!” and discover that not everyone knows about it, much less has read it.

In “Think and Grow Rich!” – there is a hidden “secret” that Napoleon Hill alludes to, a secret I had been searching for and could not find for over five years.

Each of the 17 chapters in this book begins with one of Napoleon Hill’s principles.

I am well aware that not everyone reading this is going to be impressed.

Some will call this Pollyanna, wishful thinking, bromides and whatever other dismissive word or phrase they wish to use.

Let them sneer and laugh and deride.

These laws work – you don’t have to use them if you don’t want.

However, if you are in a situation where you could use some good advice, some helpful coaching and step-by-step instructions in the use of today’s technology to make a better life for yourself, will you make an effort?

None of the ideas I am about to present are new -
some are a century old,
some go back several thousand years.

You may have heard of all or none.
These are time tested and proven.
It is my mission to explain the complicated and make it interesting and clear.

My hope is to reduce the reading and learning you need to do –
and just give you a summary that you can immediately use.

Sometimes, the summary is not enough and I am providing links or the actual text to the actual works – by the authors as well as longer summaries.

As I mentioned, in 2010, America had a problem.

There is a proven solution.

Before I tell you what it is – let me ask you a question:

What if a strange secret were revealed to you –
the exact steps you need to take –
their order, sequence and timing –
the steps to follow in order to succeed for the rest of your life –
and live a life of fulfillment and abundance -

What would you think?

What words come to mind?

Great? Crazy? Wonderful? Impossible?

Maybe all of the above.

One more question – let’s say you are in a bad spot right now –
maybe jobless, broke and depressed –
would you even listen?

There is good news and bad news.

The good news is the solution does exist.

The bad news is, you could have found it already and applied it –
but you probably haven’t. Not yet.

Why not?

The solution goes back 3 years and 70 and 100 and 3,000 years – and here it is:

“You become what you think about”

Is that too cryptic?

How about

“Whatever the human mind can conceive and believe it can achieve”

And finally,

“As a man thinketh in his heart so is he”

Yes, in 2010 America had a problem – so what about the solution?

Are things really so bad now as the newspapers and TV would have you believe?

So, review the 17 Success Principles.

See how you can apply them in your life.

And if you feel, as I feel – that you have a skill that can benefit other.

“If only you could package that skill
make it available in a presentation,
and find those who are in need of it.”

You will be finding the need that Dr. Schuller mentioned.

You will be finding a solution to a problem.

And let’s say you knew all of these secrets and more –
that is like asking for the secret to fitness and health.

If I answered “Eat less and exercise more” – would that help?

That is like giving you the ingredients for the recipe for lasagna.

Unless you are an expert chef, these ingredients would not bring you closer to a finished dish of lasagna – they would just sit there in front of you.

A step-by-step recipe is what you need.

The 17 secrets are the same – unorganized ingredients – until you put them together in a useful way – it doesn’t matter how wise you or whether they are “bromides” and “cliches”

We say every word and every sentence with 26 letters.

I am going to show you how to use these principles to help your skilled trade business succeed.

You have already supplied the skill.

You are motivated to read through this introduction.

Now, the first step, which seems basic, but after all, every step is basic.

You will develop your business idea.

Step #1 – Your Business Idea

Time Ownership And Management Goals?
To Make It A Better, Happier, Friendlier, And Safer World. To Create Greater Harmony And Teamwork In The World

F A C T:

20% OF THE PEOPLE IN THE USA PRODUCE 80% OF THE WEALTH

10% OF THE PEOPLE HAVE WELL-DEFINED GOALS

5% OF THE 10% HAVE WRITTEN GOALS

RESULT: THOSE WITH WRITTEN GOALS OUT-PERFORM THOSE THAT KEEP THEIR GOALS IN THEIR HEAD — 100 TO 1

FAILURE IS ONE’S INABILITY TO REACH THEIR GOALS IN LIFE.

Many men and women fail in life, not for lack of ability, or brains, or even courage, but simply because they never organized their energies around a central goal.

The Only Difference Between Those Who Have Failed And Those Who Have Succeeded Lies In The Difference Of Their Habits.

There is power in determination when it is followed by action. A determination to do something about your life must be implemented with planning, and planning must lead to action. Dynamic planning springs from goals and purposes that sparks the imagination. We are not here just to occupy a few cubic feet of space or recline in a contour chair or sleep on a posture?right mattress.

We are here to express a purpose of grandeur and stature. We are here to fulfill what our fathers willed for us. Let’s plan our life with this magnificent heritage in mind. Let’s let our imaginations soar with the possibilities open to us, and use our imagination creatively to envision the goals we want to achieve.

GOOD HABITS ARE THE KEY TO SUCCESS – BAD HABITS ARE THE UNLOCKED DOORS TO FAILURE

“I Will Form The Habit Of Goal Setting And Become A Slave To That Habit”

If You Keep Doing What You Are Doing Now, Will You Be Where You Want To Be In 5 Years Or Less?

Where Are You Going With Your Life?

Where Should You Be By The End Of Your 5th Year?

Where Should You Be By The End Of Your 4th Year?

Where Should You Be By The End Your 3rd Year?

Where Should You Be By The End Of Your 2nd Year?

Where Should You Be By The End Of Your 1st Year?

Where Should You Be In 6 Months?

If You Don’t Know Where You Are Going In Life, Any Road Will Take You There.

YOUR GREATEST POTENTIAL

(Pushing Upon One’s Limitations Is What Makes Life Become Larger)

Are you all that you can be in your life, or is there still room for growth, improvement and greater achievements? How do you know your true range in life unless you keep reaching, stretching, learning, growing and pushing beyond your limitations? Pushing beyond your limitations — trying to achieve more difficult and more meaningful goals – is what makes your life become larger.

Every person is really – two people; the person we are today and that more dynamic, more developed, more organized and focused and more successful and happier person we could still become – tomorrow.

The greatest tragedy in life is that millions of people come into this world and leave this world and never ever realize or develop their full powers and potential. They bargained in life for a penny and life would pay no more, not realizing that any wage they would have asked of life – life would have gladly paid. Some of those people never even tried, they just settled for mediocrity. Others, got a dream, an idea, a desire or goal and decided to go for it, but then dropped out when the going got tough. There are many starters in life, but very few finish. Too many people give up on their dreams too soon in life.

No matter what the level of our ability, we have more potential than we can ever develop in a lifetime. Deep within every man and woman dwells those slumbering powers; powers that would astonish them, which they never dreamed of possessing; forces that would revolutionize their life if aroused and put into action.

Potential Means: Undeveloped — And – Unrealized Powers, Possibilities, And Capabilities — That Can – But Have Not Yet Come Into Being.

In other words, the best is yet to come! You have powers and talent you have not developed or used yet. You also have dreams and fantasies you have not realized yet. Maybe you will some day — maybe you never will — maybe you have given up on them — it is up to you! If you still want to achieve them, then you have to keep on keeping on. Your unlimited possibilities are still alive, just waiting for you to give them power.

There are no limits to our possibilities. At any moment, we have more possibilities that we can ever act upon. There is far more opportunity than there is ability. You can do things you never thought you could do.

There are no limitations in what you can do except the limitations of your own mind. Our thoughts and our imaginations are the only real limits to our possibilities. We know what we are, but we know not what we may be.

First, we have to understand the potential that we have. Second, we have to learn how to develop and harness these powers; third, we must then continuously use these powers at all times. Just like a muscle – we either use it or we lose it.

Self-improvement – means: improving of one’s condition, mind and abilities – through one’s own efforts. To become better than you already are.

It is even possible for you to do something in the next couple of years that could make you rich and famous. There is nothing you cannot do, or learn how to do. You didn’t know how to walk or talk when you came into this world, but you eventually learned how. With time, practice and proper instructions, you could learn anything.

There is nothing more pitiful or ludicrous than a person who thinks that he or she already knows enough.

Maximizing your potential to the fullest – to be all that you can be – will guarantee you greater happiness, freedom, security and peace of mind in your life. It will also keep you young and filled with vitality.

We are happy when we are using our potential – striving against difficulties and overcoming them – reaching for achievement and finding it – this is happiness. True happiness involves the full use of one’s powers and talents.

Planning Your Work – And Working Your Plan!

Creating Plans That Are “Faultless” To Achieve Your Goals.

A “Plan” Is A Method For Accomplishing Something.

A Blue Print — A Design — A Game Plan — A Strategy.

Develop Yours!

Planning Is Like A Road Map. It Shows Us The Right Direction And Keeps Us “On Course.”

Your “Project” Is To Bridge The Gap That Exists Between Where You Are Now — And The Goal You Intend On Reaching.

Developing The Plan Is Actually Laying Out The “Sequence Of Events” That Have To Occur For You To Achieve Your Goals.

Create A “Project Binder.” In Your Binder, Plan Your Work – And Then – Work Your Plan!

List All Of Your Lifetime, Long-Range, Short-Range, Tangible, And Intangible Goals On Separate Sheets Of Paper.

Put Them In Your Project Binder.

Continuously Re-Arrange Them In The Order Of Importance Or Urgency. (Calling For Immediate Attention)

Carry Your Project Binder With You — Review Your Goals Daily.

Reflect Back At The End Of The Day On What Happened.

Reflect Back On What Didn’t Happen That Should Have Happened.

Re-Evaluate – Revise – Re-Think – Renew – Rebuild.

Repeat What Works — Remove What Doesn’t Work.

Repair What Needs To Be Repaired.

Resolve What Needs To Be Resolved.

Reduce Waste (Time – Money – Energy).

Recharge Your Energy.

Regain Your Enthusiasm.

Revitalize Your Mind With Motivation Books, Seminars, And Tapes.

Create A “Treasure Map.” Put Pictures Of The Things You Want In Your Project Binder. Look At Them Often. This Will Inspire You To Achieve Your Goals.

The Project Binder Becomes Your “Log Book.” As The Captain Of Your Ship — You Must Log Everything That Happens:

A. Chart Your Course.

B. Stay On Course “Steady As You Go.”

C. Don’t Deviate From The Course, Or You Might Go Aground!

D. If You Get Off Course, Get Back On Course As Fast As You Can.

ACTIONS I WILL TAKE STARTING TODAY: Delay – Is the Worst Form of Denial.

I will write down, right now, what it is that I want more than anything else in life.

I will write out a clear, concise statement of my definite major purpose. (You can use as many words as you want to describe your Definite Major Purpose. After you do, keep rewriting it with less and less words each time until it is crystal clear.)

I will sign my statement and make it a binding document. Signed By________________________________________________________

I will read my statement of my DMP aloud to myself every morning and night until I have memorized it.

I will call it to mind as many times as I can.

I will practice seeing, feeling, and believing myself already in possession of my DMP.

I will emotionalize and visualize the benefits I will receive by pursuing and achieving my DMP.

I will develop well-defined step-by-step – foolproof goals that will get me there.

I will build and maintain a burning desire to persist with bulldog determination that will eventually mow down all opposition that comes my way.

Your definite major purpose is like a blueprint you are drawing of your entire future life.

Your definite major purpose should consist of that which can be attained only by a series of day-to-day and month-to-month steps. It should harmonize with your present occupation, business or profession, so as to capitalize on your experience and background, and so that each day’s work will enable you to come one day nearer the attainment of it.

Once you have achieved your goals, a new expanded and widened purpose should be adopted.

A test of whether the purpose you now have in mind is worthy of being a major purpose is this: Ask yourself these questions: Are you willing to spend most of your lifetime making it come true? Will it be worth the price you may pay for it?

Your definite major purpose should include: The job or career of your choice, the income you want – to live the life style of your choice, your retirement money, time to enjoy your life, family, hobbies and interest, the information and knowledge you want to acquire and know, the person you want to be, personal growth, family goals, spiritual enlightenment, and social responsibility.

THINK ABOUT YOUR BIGGEST GOAL AND THEN ASK YOURSELF

THESE QUESTIONS AND WRITE DOWN YOUR ANSWERS:

Can It Be Achieved?______________Can It Be Achieved By You?__

What Will Be Some Of The Sacrifices You Will Have To Make In Order To Achieve This Goal?

Will It Be Worth The Effort And Sacrifice?

Are You Going To Finish What You Start? ________ (Many Start But Few Finish.)

Are You Ready — Or Is This A Bad Time?

Are There Too Many Problems In Your Life At This Time That Might Get You Off Course?

When The Student Is Ready The Master Appears. (What Does That Mean To You?)

When You Are Ready — You Will Attract That Which You Need – That’s “The Law Of Harmonious Attraction.”

How Will You Reward Yourself When You Achieve This Goal?

How Will You Stay Motivated And Keep Your Desire Intensified?

Why Are You Going To Achieve This Goal? Make A Why List – Your Why’s Are More Important Than Your How – The How Will Come

Getting The Most Out Of Your Most Priceless Possession Your Time!

Accomplishing More In Life – While Doing Less – Effectiveness Verses Efficiency

Working Smart Instead Of Hard

Time Is Our Most Priceless Gift – Each Second Is A Precious And Valuable Diamond.

We Can’t Buy More. We Can’t Borrow More. We Can’t Steal It. We Can’t Save It Or Store It.

We Guard Our Money, But Not Our Time. We Don’t Know How Much Time We Have Left.

Use It Wisely Or Lose It!

HERE IS AN ORGANIZED WAY TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS – ONE-AT-A-TIME

1 – Buy a binder, 20 dividers, and a ream of three-hole paper – Title this your “GOALS BINDER”

2 – Title your first divider: My Dream List – In this section of your binder you write down a list of everything you ever wanted to accomplish, to have, to do, to achieve, to be, places you want to go to, things you want to own, things you want to learn, etc. Keep adding to your list everyday for a week. Don’t think of reasons why it can’t be done or any negative thoughts at all. There is an unlimited source of power available to you to achieve whatever it is you want in life as long as you don’t infringe on others in any way.

3 – The next binder titles will be listed as follows: – Financial, Career, Health, Recreation, Personality, Family, Self-Image, Spiritual, Social, Mental, Character And Physical.

4 – Put several sheets of paper in each section. Then, take each item listed on your dream list – one-at-a-time, and copy it in the proper section. Ex: Go to Europe (Under Recreation), Go to church (Spiritual), Save $100 per month (Financial), Have family gatherings often (Family) Build my discipline (Character), Take a 30 minute walk after dinner three nights per week (Physical) Drink 8 glasses of water a day (Health) Read more self improvement books (Mental), Learn more about my job (Career), Do some volunteer work (Social), Become a better listener (Personality) Dress better and dress up more often (Self-Image)

5 – Next, go through each section and redo each list in the order of ease of accomplishment (Put the easiest goals to accomplish first and the hardest goals to achieve last on your individual lists)

6 – Now, from each category section, pick the easiest goal you can find and list them all on one sheet of paper to look at everyday.

Don’t Forget To Make The Goals So Easy It Is Impossible To Fail – Or Make Excuses Because You Failed.

At the end of each week, you want to be able to say I achieved twelve goals.

Very gradually, you can make the goals a little harder, like the man who lifted a baby cow everyday until it was full grown. He worked his way up to it.

7 – The next binder divider title should be My Treasure Map – In this section, put all of the pictures you can find that remind you of your goals – One picture is worth a thousand words. (Also, you can get a poster board to hang on a wall and paste your pictures on it so that you can see them easily and be reminded, and fantasize on what it would be like to have them now.

Examples: If you want a motor home some day – get a picture of one to paste in this section – or a picture of a cruise ship you would like to go on someday – or a picture of yourself when you were younger and had a healthier looking body – if you want to live in a beautiful house overlooking the ocean, get a picture of a beautiful house overlooking the ocean – get a picture of a piano if you want one – a mate – romance, a picture of a couple walking on the beach holding hands – a beautiful wardrobe – a picture of the college you would like your kids to go to someday – A home office that you would like to have or home library.

Start Looking Through Magazines And Sales Brochures For Pictures To Cut Out

And Paste In Your Treasure Map Section Of Your Goals Binder

Treasure Mapping – One Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words.

For those of you who are not familiar with treasure mapping, let me explain:

Many high achievers throughout the world have a treasure map they look at often to keep reminding them of their goals and dreams in life. Usually they hang up a large poster board on the wall and paste pictures of their goals on it: Pictures of the new car they want, pictures of the beautiful house they want overlooking the ocean, pictures of their young children standing in front of the college they want them to go to when they grow up, the motor home they would like to own, the cruise ships they want to be on, the piano they want to own, pictures of a couple having a candlelight dinner, or walking on the beach holding hands in the moonlight. Pictures of someone that has the kind of healthy body they would like to have. Pictures of a pile of money they would like to have someday.

They select pictures they find in magazines and sales brochures and see on the internet that represent the things they want to have and the things they would like to do.

As they look at the pictures on their treasure map, they imagine what it would be like to actually live that life. They emotionalize it and they keep intensifying their desire to find the ways to make it all happen.

Start Creating Your Treasure Map

8 – Title your next binder divider, “WINS.” In this section keep a list of all of the goals you have accomplished so far. Every now and then, look over your list to remind yourself how good you are doing. This will inspire you to keep setting more goals.

9 – The next binder divider is titled, “REWARDS.” Make a list of rewards you are going to treat yourself and your family to after accomplishing each of your major goals.

Examples:

When I lose twenty pounds I am going to reward myself with a new sports outfit.

When I get my next commission check I’m going to spend the weekend in Carmel.

When I finish the first chapter of my book I’m going to celebrate by going to a book store and buy the best book I can find on self-publishing

10 – Title the next binder divider, “AFFIRMATIONS.” Fill this section with affirmations to repeat daily.

Examples:

I Am Very Successful At Achieving My Goals In Life.

I Always Set Realistic Goals That I Believe I Can Achieve.

I Review My Goals Binder Every Day And Keep Upgrading My Records.

I Am Always Enthusiastic About Adding More Goals That I Achieved To My WINS Section.

I Enjoy Giving Myself A Reward After Achieving Difficult Goals. It Motivates Me To Do More.

By James R. Malinchak

Do you want to know how to speak effectively in public?

Standing in front of a crowd can be a nerve-wracking experience. Stress levels are high and the fear of failure can be an impediment to your performance. Most of us are not blessed with the natural ability in public speaking. Inexperienced public speakers are sometimes self-conscious and fearful of choking in front of the crowd. It’s an unfortunate scenario and it can be prevented with practice and preparation.

Overcoming nervousness is just a part of being an effective public speaker but there’s more to it than confidence. Although confidence is fundamental, delivery, research, and audience awareness is essential. To become effective in public speaking you must integrate these different skills and attitudes.

Here are a few tips that can help you improve your effectiveness in public speaking. These are crucial steps that make your presentations successful.

1.	Research

When I say research, it does not only involve your speech’s topic. You must also research on the group you will be speaking to. You need to consider who the audience is and what they already know. Then you have to research your topic and determine what your audience wants to or needs to hear.

2.	Speech drafting

In public speaking one of the most important skills to have is the ability to outline or draft speeches. Successful outlining can make your speeches clear, concise, and upbeat. Great outlines can prevent audience boredom and keep you on track. Your speeches will also be easier to follow.

Time allotted, key points, and supporting statements are the main factors in outlining your speeches. It is not uncommon for speakers, especially inexperienced ones, to lose track of time. They either make their speeches too long or too short; the former is more common. Test your drafted speech in your rehearsals.

Key points should be few so it will be easily remembered. Support it with stories, anecdotes, or quotes. Make your supporting items exciting and informative.

3.	Practice and Rehearse

Any type of skill is perfected through practice. Speaking in public is no exception. Practice your speeches to test its duration and also, to get familiar with it. And once you are satisfied with your material, if possible, you should rehearse it with a dummy audience. Have your family and friends listen to your speeches first before taking it to the real thing. You can record your rehearsals so you can fine tune all possible details.

4.	Be Dynamic and Confident

When on stage, never ever bore your audience. Always be dynamic and exude confidence. Show poise and enthusiasm. Movement on stage is an art. You can generate interest and excitement with your movements, subtle or not.

Hand gestures and walking around can be entertaining to watch. No one wants to listen to a stationary robot on stage. If the stage is wide, you can walk from area to area addressing different members of the audience. However, don’t distract your audience with too much movement.

5.	Be Dramatic

Show a bit of emotion. Use voice inflection and emphasize statements with a bit of drama and volume.

**Attention Readers**

Building Your Own Personal Success Escalator

What is your next step – now that you’ve built your own Personal Success Escalator?
Success attracts more success.
What continuing success do you want to attract now?Think and Grow Rich Action Step #17
Use of Cosmic Habit Force

It takes a habit to replace a habit.

22 Laws # 17 – Unless you write your competitor’s plans, you can’t predict the future.

18. Success often leads to arrogance, and arrogance to failure.
19. Failure is to be expected and accepted.
20. The situation is often the opposite of the way it appears in the press.
21. Successful programs are not built on fads, they’re built on trends.
22. Without adequate funding, an idea won’t get off the ground.

Well here we are, at the very end of this book and hopefully you are rich by now by following the steps listed – and if so, relax.

My high school math teacher, Alfred Kalfus left me a phrase “Life is a study of patterns” and in Internet marketing there is one pattern after another. One of these patters is to tell and describe how horrible life was before success, how poor you were, how you suffered and what a terrible time life was before the secret discovery that turned it around.

I am going to follow that pattern – but I am not going to dwell on it – because you probably have experienced greater pain than I have. You probably have been poorer or had to go through tougher times.

The working title of this book was “How I Transported Myself from the Bottom of the Basement to the Top of the Grand Canyon in 30 Days.”

Now, you may be in your own basement, you may be unemployed, you may be a “victim” of the recession of 2009-2010, your life may be in the pits. Please do not be offended by the next comment – none of that matters.

Dwelling on the bad stuff that might seem to overwhelm you is not going to help. You might not agree with that. Okay – let’s run a test. How about you spend the next 5 minutes wallowing – just list all of the bad things that have ever happened – but don’t write them down – just set a stop watch and let 5 minutes go by.

Okay – did you do that? Did you feel better? Probably not, but you may be used to the bad stuff. Earl Nightingale said this about the difficulty of making a better life – “It is easier to put up with the hardships of living a poor life, than it is to put up with the hardships of making a better life.”

Now do this – what is your basement – what is the pits – what is it that you are going through – what is the lack of money or health or a relationship – you probably know that all too well and can spend a lot more time than 5 minutes describing it.

Okay, now take another 5 minutes and just list – in writing what you want – what your fantasy is – you must write this down and you must spend at least 5 minutes. Start now – what would you like?

Now, please be specific – and again, do not worry that this is a fantasy, that this is a waste of time or “unrealistic” or “it will never happen” or “I am different” or “You do not understand” – because I am about to tell you the secret.

And the secret is this – you have fooled yourself into being a loser – now all you have to do is fool yourself into being a winner. Got that? And the way to fool yourself is to imagine you are already there. See, it has worked so far in your life – but you fooled yourself into the bad stuff – now just start imagining what your better life will be like.

Some of you will not do this. I understand. I did not believe it at first either. You might as well put this book down and ask for the money back guarantee – then move onto to something else. I can’t help you. No hard feelings.

For the rest of you, here is the best news you probably have heard all of your life – no matter how bad things are – they not only can get better – they will get better – and this is a secret that goes back 4,000 or 6,000 years – and it has always been a secret because it is hidden from most people.

See, for me, I was living in the bottom of the basement – because I put myself there. That was a “step up” from the broke life I was living in Tallahassee – and a way to regroup and rearrange my life. But it was still a basement.

So that was “X marks the starting spot”. The next step is where do I want to go – that image has been meeting my beloved Ināra, reuniting with her after over 1 ½ years “apart” – since we are never really apart, being soul mates and “twins” at the Atlanta airport. A short drive of 35 miles – but it may as well be 100 light years away – when I was broke and didn’t have $20 in my world or a car that was drivable.

But – that image grew more and more focused – and is real in my mind – by the time you read this book – it will have already happened. And the next step is where do we go from there? The Grand Canyon of course! Every Latvian has always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon. Why? Beats me. I already saw the place and yes it is cool. But for Ināra it is a dream come true.

So my image is to be sitting n the first class roomette with the big picture window watching America go by outside – watching the train station in Atlanta – where the Gone with the Wind scene happened, and then traveling along the south of the US to New Orleans. Katrina was the latest invader – the British were the first in 1812. Ināra and I got there before her 51st birthday and my name day on June 24th.

And then we went to Bourbon Street and maybe that cemetery in Easy Rider – the LSD scene – and then we get back on the train to go to Tucson. We watch America’s West go by – and travel in a few hours over the same distance that spans the entire country of Latvia. America is a big place – the entire countries of XC would fit inside the Grand Canyon – with room for YY. But that isn’t important right now.

What is important is that we have the money, the freedom the time to do this – and we have each other – we are about to get on the bus – remember the Bus Ride Out of Hell? We are on the bus from Tucson to the Grand Canyon.

And by helping you market and advertise your business – by helping you attract the customers and sell the products and services and earn you the money – well, we got paid as well.

So a miracle just took place, a Buying Trance was cast upon you and upon me. I literally went from the bottom of the basement to the top of the Grand Canyon. And so can you. Just let me know jan@janthemarketingman.com what your Grand Canyon vision is and how you got there.

All aboard the success train! There are plenty of seats available but you need to make a reservation.

Can you think of anything else? Any other way to get your message out to a word that “desperately” seeks what you have to offer. And remember –

“When your marketing is done well
Your products virtually sell themselves”

What if you put all of the pieces together,
what would your business look like now?

Think and Grow Rich Action Step #16)
Budget Your Time and Money

Tell me how you use your time and how you spend your money,
and I will tell you where and what you’ll be ten years from now.

22 Laws #16 – In each situation, only one move will produce substantial results.

So now you have all the steps that’s will take you from poor and struggling to rich and famous – at least you have the blueprint for this accomplishment

Make a checklist – this will take you from step #1 to step #100 – or whatever the “final” step is – the accomplishment of your goal

You have the same or equivalent or better skills than most of the “friendly competitors” doing the same thing as you do

Wallace Wattles, the Science of Getting Rich which became the Secret has a central concept called “The Certain Way”

What is the Certain Way? It is following the treasure map, doing the paint by numbers and following the recipe, the formula for success – this formula has been around for thousands of years BUT, in once sense it is waiting for you to discover it – if you have not done so already.

Read any newspaper, watch any newscast – al you see is crisis and problems and bad things happening – well – don’t read that don’t watch that – get the image of what you want – focus on it and believe it already is yours.

Which of the steps seems the hardest? Was it the business idea or the elevator speech or the Facebook page? Which seemed impossible when you first heard about it? Possibly it was the very first one – that there could be a business idea that can be turned into a profitable business that will provide the lifestyle that you desire for yourself and your family.

Why would that be the hardest? Because we are trained since childhood to believe that – and for all too many, we go to our grave thinking we have these limitations.

Someone is succeeding at the same thing you are doing and here is a roadmap for you to be able to do the same thing.

Never before has the technology been so powerful and so cheap. If you understand it and how to use it – you can say that this technology is simple. Until you do – it is rocket science. Even rocket scientists have to start somewhere – and that is where you are starting.

Coaching has become a huge business in the past few years – the idea is – pay some money to an expert who will show you exactly what you need to do to succeed. Tiger Woods has a coach, why not you?

As your Skilled Trades coach, I and my (soon to be) staff are available to you 24×7, 365×24 to help – to help answer any questions. Just read this ebook and you might have all you need. Do you desire more help or assistance – that is available too.

Everything you need to learn to succeed is available to you for free – from your computer that is connected to the Internet – so, if money is an issue and I can certainly relate to that – just find the answer and implement it.

Or take a low cost but not free approach and buy the first in a series of products – this is referred to as a sales funnel in Internet marketing – and the idea is that you become a marketer of your own services and teach others to market as well.

Maybe you don’t want to teach, maybe you don’t want to coach, maybe you just want to be paid to do a job, perform a service, sell a product and go home at the end of the day. Cool. The ideas here can help you do that – imagine if you were 10 times more famous – had 10 times the demand – 10 times the customers calling you- not the other way around.

Attracting customers is the name of the game – and following these steps will allow you to do that – so what have you learned? The most important thing is that is it possible for you to succeed doing what you love.

As an American, you are blessed – and you probably don’t even realize that – as a child of immigrants who came to America – I have a personal duty to help others in my parents’ home country of Latvia – they want to come here – and there are countless others in other countries who want to do the same

Yet you are here already and it doesn’t seem so great. That is the goal of this ebook and the subsequent videos and mp3s and live performances – to show you how you can achieve the life of your dreams.

Just remember, “When your marketing is done well – Your products virtually sell themselves” so – Do your marketing well. You have been given the treasure map, just start where you are and follow the steps to your goal, your treasure.

Do you have network of allied, complementary – but non-competitor – skills that you could work together with on a larger project – a team – a master mind – that can mutually recommend and support each other?

Do you have low cost promotional “billboards” like T-shirts – a 4 color quality T-shirt – like AlexTheCraftsmans – are only $22 including shipping. You have your business card logo on the front and your catchphrase slogan on the back. What about Mugs and Hats – to give to your best customers? Offer a prize for the best testimonial. Offer free service if they are seen at a public sporting event.

Do you have a Mobile Billboard on your car? Magnetic signs can be attached to your car – when you are around the corner from your home – so your neighbours don’t see you. Your advertising is available – your problem solution is available in traffic – have people call you on your cell phone or e-mail you or visit your website. Stuck in traffic? This is good – you can sell something.

Now that you have your own video, why not show it to the world -
or better yet, your ideal target customer?Think and Grow Rich Action Step #15)
Maintain Sound Health

To maintain a Positive Mental Attitude and develop a healthy mind and body,
you must conquer fear and anxiety.

YouTube – as Wikipedia describes it: YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can upload and share video clips, and view them in the MPEG-4 format. Three former PayPal employees created YouTube in February 2005.
In November 2006, YouTube, LLC was bought by Google Inc. for US$1.65 billion, and is now operated as

A better description is – you can watch ANY video or any movie that has ever been made or seen on TV – from the comfort of your home computer.

Do you have to ask your grandparents – “Remember when we only had 3-5 channels of TV”

And then there were 100 on cable and 500 on satellite

YouTube has tens of thousands of TV channels – and one or more of them could be yours!

Remember Step #14 – Your Own Business Video – well YouTube will not only host it for free, you can avoid “bandwidth charges or problems” and they will show it to the world – for free.

There is a joke on YouTube that they will pay $1 Million for the first YouTube video that is “edited” – the point being that a lot of “crap” gets on YouTube – and it is so easy to upload videos.

Many of the “Flipcams” have an automatic upload feature – just shoot the video – then plug into a computer – Press upload and your “wonderfully interesting” video is now online at YouTube. Big Mistake!

Take the time to edit! Add titles – your name and your website – make your video a little better than most.

When you open up an account on YouTube – for free – you can upload videos and post them – YouTube does all the technical stuff and “conversion”

Remember infomercials? I guess they still have them on late night TV – well, you can have your own on You Tube – all of the videos that pertain to you – your business, your industry can be in one place for people to watch.

And let’s say you “go viral” – become very popular and people send your video to friends because they find it interesting. People know about you and may want to contact you

In the “old days” were you ever on TV? Imagine if you were. You would tell all your friends what channel, what day, what time. And they would watch and you could compare notes.

Today – just tell them to go to this YouTube address – send it via e-maiul and they watch you “on TV”

Imagine having a series about your products – informing customers not only what you doi =- but how to use the product – instructional videos are very popular on You Tube.

And when you say “YouTube” you are using a “generic” word like “Kleenex” for tissues or “Xerox” for copies – there are literally hundreds of “YouTube like channels” – based on the same idea – with different features – so there is no lack of space online to upload your videos.

And once you have one or several or a hundred YouTube videos – you can “post them” or “embed” them on one of your own website pages. Go to the Video page – and watch the videos -= YouTube will take care of all the technical and bandwidth issues – and people will have the familiar YouTube “interface” to use to watch the videos.

Television has been free to watch for many decades – now it is free to produce and broadcast. You want people to know about you. YouTube is one of the best ways to get the word out.

Why not show the world your video?

DO you have this video on YouTube – “action” footage and edited – with titles that you can tell people about?

If you had your own 4-5 Minute Infomercial,
your own “Preview of Coming Attractions” – what would you show?Think and Grow Rich Action Step #14)
Cultivate Creative Vision

Creative imagination has its base in the subconscious
and is the medium through which you recognize new ideas and newly learned facts.

22 Laws # 14 – For every attribute, there is an opposite, effective attribute.

Video used to be expensive, difficult to use, nearly impossible to edit and complicated to produce. I know, I first used video in 1981. The equipment for filming consisted of a $5,000 camera, 2 $2,500 editing decks and a $1,500 control panel. Plus TVs and a portable deck. Total cost was almost $15,000. And the quality was not the world’s greatest.

Today, you can buy a “flipcam” a memory stick with a lens for under $100 and a HD or high definition camera for around $200

The editing software is available for free or consumer quality & easy for under $100 and the best software in the world for perhaps $500

The quality is viewable on a large TV – the editing you can do on a PC today would have required $50-$100,000 of equipment from a TV studio or large production house almost 30 years ago.

So there is no excuse not to create your own videos.

Adding titles and special effects is also a standard feature with most editing software – having seen the equipment needed less than 20 years ago makes me appreciate the technology.

So you can film – or video yourself in action on your business – and produce very good quality footage and sound – all phrases from the days of filmmaking.

One thing to do – use a tripod whenever possible – the “Blair Witch Project” shaky camera or Cinema Verite as it was called – looks crummy and viewers get tired of it quickly. Steady shots are cool and appreciated.

Sound can usually be recorded with the on camera microphone – this is to make it easy – and to cut camera costs – sadly, many camcorders do not have external mic hookup – where you can plug in a quality mic for better sound – but this can be worked around and is not all that critical.

What is critical is telling a story – just like you tell a story – beginning middle and end – your video should do the same.

You want to introduce yourself, tell something about yourself and wrap it up.

Adding titles has been made much simpler with software like Camtasia – just calling the video something, starring you is a great introduction.

And of course have your website listed – and e-mail – why not a telephone number where people can get hold of you.

Music is a wonderful addition – you can add “free” music and even “unfree” copyrighted music – you usually will not have a problem – lawyers don’t go after small fish – and when you become a bigger fish – you can afford a lawyer.

Remember slide shows that went on for what seemed like days – or home videos of some “cute kid” doing something stupid over and over again for what seems like an eternity. Keep your videos to 4-5 minutes ?? to not bore your audience.

You can burn or record your video onto a DVD and play it on a home DVD player or on almost any computer – most computers have DVD capabilities – and the larger moniters provide a rich user experience.

Your video is good enough to put on a large screen TV – and it can be “compressed” and sent via e-mail to someone –

You can post your video online on your website – or on YouTube – which is Step #15 – any video you can see on your PC can be put online – another advancement die to high speed internet – mist people no longer have plain old dial up – and the speeds are increasing – so you can watch pretty much anything over the Internet you can watch over cable TV or from a DVD

Movies are a little over 100 years old – just watch an old movie (available on You Tube) from the early 1900s and appreciate how much has happened over this past 100 years.

And put as much of what you do – what your business does – on video –

You can even take still photos and incorporate those – there is an effect called The Ken Burns effect – remember the civil War and Jazz and other shows he has done – where you convert your photos to video.

Even if you only have photos – these are the building blocks of an interesting video describing what your business is all about and how it can benefit your customers.

Your 1 – 5 Minute Movie

Do you have a video on your site introducing you? You don’t have to be a Hollywood star to have your own video – can you just answer a few questions – I have a set of 20 questions I will ask you and you just have to answer them. Any mistakes or glitches will be edited out. Take as much time as you need. As many “takes” as you need. Then all of the “footage” will be assembled into an interesting, entertaining 4-5 minute video. It will have titles and intro music and “outro” music and voiceover and even credits. Once you are happy with this – you can upload this to YouTube – again – completely free. And you can design a YouTube page – just like designing a Facebook page.

Do you have a video of your 5 minute sales commercial – an info-commercial or infomercial that you have on an iPod or a personal video player or on a DVD or on a “thumb drive” that you can send to people and show them what you do

Do you have pictures
or videos of what you do?
Let me photograph you
and/or make a video –
and that is just the start –
you have this video
that I can edit for you –
put online on your website
and even upload it to YouTube.
Plus you can order a DVD version
and play this for your friends –
a custom DVD with printing.

If you are an instructor –
this DVD can be sold online via Kunaki

Do you have a video online?
Videos used to be expensive.
Not anymore.
With a $50 webcam or $70 USB Netcam –
you can make a video.

You can edit it inexpensively
and add titles
and you can upload this to YouTube
and other video services – for FREE.

Your Tribe – Automating Customer Attraction –
once someone is interested in what you offer –
you can contact them again and again without being pushy

Think and Grow Rich Action Step #13)
Learn From Adversity and DefeatEveryone faces defeat.
It may be a stepping-stone or a stumbling block,
depending on the mental attitude with which it is faced.

“The Money is in the List” is a popular Internet Marketing saying – and if you want to build a tribe – followers – friends – a list is strongly suggested – even if you don’t sell anything online.

1,000 Fans by Kelly Kelly is a Wired article that says all a band or group needs are 1,000 fans and you can be 100% supported by that 1,000

There are autoresponder software programs – that allow you to send a message to one person or a million – at scheduled intervals

A founding concept of Internet marketing is the Opt-in list – where you enter your name and e-mail address and then are sent a verification notice

You receive “for free” some report or video in exchange for your name and e-mail address

There is a privacy guarantee – that you will not be “spammed” have unwanted e-mails sent to your inbox

You can always opt-out – or have your name removed from a particular list and the sender is almost always 100% going to comply – you opt-out you never hear from them again

The concept is called “Permission Marketing” after a Seth Godin book bt the same name – you are asked permission before a marketer – or skilled tradesperson sends you anything

There is no need to worry about that $20 million offer from some Nigerian “son of a rich king”

The opt-in list is great to keep in touch with your prospects, customers and clients

Restaurants, haircutters, drug stores, Quiznos, etc., can keep in touch with customers and make them offers or give them interesting maybe valuable information

You should build your own list – the cost is approximately $20 per month – included in the $97 Marketing Special – but you can get this for free with ads

It is estimated that every person on your list is “worth” $1.25 ?? or so – and again, Internet marketers have a saying “The money is in the list” – you can make money from your list – working offline

When people in your targeted niche want to know something – want information – they are okay if not eager to give you their e-mail address

There are many instruction manuals, eBooks, videos, MP3s, etc. on all of the details of list making and autoresponders

You yourself probably subscribe to one or more lists – and are happy to get their info – and if they overdo it – or annoy you – just opt-out

When you build a list in a particular niche – you have something valuable to offer others – a list of dentists, let’s say is valuable to somebody selling dental information – they will “JV” or joint venture with you – paying you upwards of 50% of any sales they make to make an offer to your list

You will be shown how to set up a list, the autoresponder, and how to write sales letters – and how to set up a sequence

Ever notice when you opt-in you usually get an answer within minutes, often seconds – you get a response from the marketer – and you feel they “care” about you – they don’t keep you waiting. This is all automatic – you the e-mailer don’t have to worry about administrative things – the software and system do it all for you.

Do you have a list? Your customers that you can keep contact via the internet – via e-mail – you can ask for their name and email address and opt-in and have a auto-responder.

Do you have information you can share with others
and keep them up to date via e-mail –
on a regular basis.

I can set up an auto-responder
so that you can
“develop a relationship with people -
who are your prospects -
will be your customers -
