Which Autoresponder and Email Marketing System Can Make Your Online Business the Most Money?

If you look on Google for “autoresponders” or “email marketing systems,” you will find many different options.

Should you buy a stand-alone autoresponder and email marketing system or should you buy an autoresponder that is part of a sophisticated shopping cart?

There are good reasons for either action. I prefer the autoresponder that comes with a shopping cart system, but I want to give you a good idea of both sides of the story so you can make up your own mind.

Reasons for Buying a Stand-Alone Autoresponder and Email Marketing System

When you buy a stand-alone autoresponder from one of the leading autoresponder and email marketing companies, you are getting a very good product. Since this is the only thing they do, you can be assured that the product is best-of-class. You can also be assured that they will constantly add features and services to make it stand out from any competitor.

After all, they have nothing else to fall back on. They have to make this a success. Plus, since this is the only thing they do, they have their ear to the market and they know what services their customers need. They will also charge a competitive price for their service because there are competitors. You get a very fair deal.

What Are the Downsides of Using a Stand-Alone Autoresponder Service?

1. Price. They aren’t very expensive, but they aren’t cheap. In fact, the price of the world class leading autoresponder is just about the price of a sophisticated shopping cart with an autoresponder built in. You could save a few dollars by just using the autoresponder, but not as much as you might think because shopping carts cost just a handful of dollars more.
2. You might be paying for services you won’t use. If you need a lot of high-end features, this is the way to go. If you need only a basic function, then why pay more for services you won’t use?
3. It won’t complete the sales process. It can promote your service, but when people want to buy, they need to go to a shopping cart. Autoresponders can’t process credit cards or collect money. You’ll need to buy a shopping cart to do that.
4. It can amass a large database of prospects, but it is hard or impossible to export the database into a shopping cart. That’s because most shopping carts won’t import large databases of email addresses on the fly because they are afraid of helping spammers. The best shopping cart services will allow you to do this after you affirm the names are double-opt in. And they will charge you when their technicians import the name for you. If you start with the shopping cart that has an autoresponder, the names and email addresses will be part of the shopping cart from the get-go so you will be building one database.

On balance, stand-alone autoresponder services seem like a good deal. So why would you want to get one that’s bundled with a shopping cart?

How I Use My Autoresponder and Online Shopping Cart System

The autoresponder in the shopping cart I have is perfect for my needs. For example, the autoresponder in my shopping cart gets prospects to signup for free reports so I can build my sales funnel.

The autoresponder automatically follows up with the people who order the free reports. Each autoresponder has a link to an order page that sells my products and services. This is tied in to my cart so I can collect money automatically. This is the beauty of having an integrated program that can do your marketing and your sales automatically.

Once people buy my products and services, I have an autoresponder series that provides customer service and educates clients on other products or services that they should be buying. This way I increase the lifetime value of each client. You can’t do this with a stand-alone autoresponder system.

So, not only do I save money since the price of my ecommerce cart is only a few dollars more than the autoresponder – but I’m also making more money off it! The all-in-one autoresponder, cart and email marketing system I use does everything I need as a coach, consultant and digital information marketer. A standalone autoresponder might offer a few higher end features, but I don’t need them. Chances are you don’t either. Compare the two and see if you need the extras. If you do, then make the correct choice.

Start Your Own Business With an Autoresponder

If you have the entrepreneur spirit deep inside you like I do, you most likely are constantly trying to find an online business that can not only make you some money, but also can be enjoyable to work at too. With our thoughts geared mostly towards the Internet these days, we sometimes tend to forget there is a world out there that does make money without the Internet. My business partner and I were talking the other day and he has come up with a remarkable idea; Why not take an important tool we all use on the Internet and use it to help businesses in your town bring in more customers. This tool I am speaking of is an autoresponder.

What is an autoresponder? We have all gone to websites where they have asked us to fill out a short form providing your name and email address. After you submit this information to that website, you get a response back into your email giving you the information you requested. This is an autoresponder. From filling out that form, you may even get a series of letters over several days or months from that company telling you about upcoming sales or giving information about a certain product. When autoresponders are used correctly, they can be a valuable tool in retrieving information from customers and keeping them informed for weeks and even months or years about the products a business has to offer.

Now with that said, using my partner’s idea, I have gone out to businesses in my home town and told them that I have an inexpensive way of advertising to bring more new customers into their business and to keep the current customers coming back. I promote myself in two ways here. I either give the store owner my affiliate link and let them sign up for their own autoresponder system under my name (which gives me commissions) or I offer to write the letters, load them into my own autoresponder and run the email campaign for the store owner for a monthly fee. All the store owner has to do is gather email addresses from their customers, give me pertinent information about their company and I do the rest.

I am writing this article to let you all know that this can be done by you too! There is a small start up cost to this business. With an autoresponder system you can purchase on the Internet and a good computer, you are on your way to starting your own business you can be proud of.

This is not an easy business that will make you instant money like some of the claims on the Internet. You must be willing to work hard, have the confidence to call on local businesses and be ready to do some serious writing. If you tend to be a little hesitant with “cold calling” on a business, I would suggest you send a professional introductory letter explaining what you have to offer and give them your name (a business name would be best) and your telephone number. (Make sure you change your voice mail on your telephone to answer like a real business). You can also run an ad in the local newspaper telling about your business.

Give this a try why don’t you? It may take time to build this business up but the rewards will be outstanding and the knowing that you have created something from the ground up will give great satisfaction and a wonderful peace of mind.

Write an Auto Responder Sequence

This is critical to your long term success online. Ask one hundred online marketing experts whether they would choose twenty profit-producing websites or one profit producing list and they should all choose the list. Why? Because the list has long-term value.

Long after the coolest new product launch has come and gone, you will still have your list. You can continue to introduce your list to the newest products, whether they are your own products or they are someone else’s. If you lose your web hosting account for any reason, if you still have your list, you can switch to another account, and you haven’t really lost anything long-term.

But without a list, you would be dead in the water.

So how do you write an auto responder series? First of all, write like you are writing to a friend. In the first email, welcome them to your list, and explain to them what your list is all about.

For example, if your list offers dog training tips and techniques, tell them that. If you are going to recommend products to them from time to time, tell them that. Let them know why you are interested in their welfare.

After your first email, you might send an informative email every 2-5 days, giving them tips and techniques related to your topic. Send out survey emails, asking what they want to learn about, then put the answers to those questions in your next email.

Once you have developed a relationship with your email list, you can begin to email them recommendations of products you have used and you believe would benefit them.

Write daily. Just think, if you wrote one email a day, in one year you would have 365 emails in your auto responder. I cannot think of one expert that has that many emails written–and you could have it in less than a year, just 20 minutes a day.

There are autoresponder software programs – that allow you to send a message to one person or a million – at scheduled intervals

A founding concept of Internet marketing is the Opt-in list – where you enter your name and e-mail address and then are sent a verification notice

You receive “for free” some report or video in exchange for your name and e-mail address

There is a privacy guarantee – that you will not be “spammed” have unwanted e-mails sent to your inbox

You can always opt-out – or have your name removed from a particular list and the sender is almost always 100% going to comply – you opt-out you never hear from them again

The concept is called “Permission Marketing” after a Seth Godin book bt the same name – you are asked permission before a marketer – or skilled tradesperson sends you anything

There is no need to worry about that $20 million offer from some Nigerian “son of a rich king”

The opt-in list is great to keep in touch with your prospects, customers and clients

Restaurants, haircutters, drug stores, Quiznos, etc., can keep in touch with customers and make them offers or give them interesting maybe valuable information

It is estimated that every person on your list is “worth” $1.25 ?? or so – and again, Internet marketers have a saying “The money is in the list” – you can make money from your list – working offline
